POINTS TO VISIT
For those who are interested in the History and architecture, La Turbie is rich in discoveries. The relics of the past are worthy to see:
- the « Trophée des Alpes » (also called «Trophy of Augustus»): the monument, its wide park and museum are opened all year round. Erected 2000 years ago to the glory of the Roman emperor Augustus, conqueror of the peoples of the Alpes, it suffered from a general destruction, and was converted into a fortress in the Middle Ages. Recognized as a national monument, it has been restored at the beginning of the 20th century,
- the Medieval village (11th-13th c.): its narrow streets paved, ancient houses and carved lintels over doorways,
- the magnificent baroque church Saint-Michel (18th c.), national monument
- the Saint-Roch and Saint-Jean chapels,
- the roman vestiges, and lots of other treasures to discover.
LEISURES
Between the sea and the mountains, La Turbie offers a wide range of sport activities for each season:
- Walks: the Via Alpina© to Monaco, the famous « Tête de Chien » and its exceptional panorama to Saint-Tropez, the sanctuary in Laghet, the roman paths, etc.
- Monte-Carlo Golf Club: this 18-hole golf built in 1911 (5683m over 71) is one of the most beautiful of the French Riviera.
- Tennis Club: this friendly club is located in the leisure centre of La Turbie.
- Aquatic centre: a few yards away from the city centre, surrounded with plants and trees, the swimming pool is opened daily during the summertime (but Monday)
